Internet Explorer 8 final to arrive by the end of 2008 (Internet Explorer 8 final to arrive by the end of 2008)  Internet Explorer 8 final to arrive by the end of 2008

Microsoft blogger Mary Jo Foley has just broken the news on a deadline for the final version of Internet Explorer 8. Microsoft has remained very tight-lipped about this, but we now know there will be a new version of the world's most popular browser released this year:

Quick update from Microsoft's Financial Analyst Meeting (FAM): Microsoft Senior Vice President of Online Services and Windows, Bill Veghte, just told attendees that Microsoft will release the final version of Internet Explorer (IE) 8 to the Web "later this year."

IE8 Beta 1 was released back in March in English, and later in April in Chinese and German. Where Beta 1 was primarily focused on web developers and designers, Microsoft says that Beta 2 will be aimed at the end-user. Beta 2 is expected to arrive sometime next month.

It is unclear if there will be a Beta 3, but that would only leave Microsoft four months to get Beta 3 and RTM versions out the door, so probably not. Either way, after the release of Beta 2, Microsoft will not have much time to address all the bugs that beta testers find, and we've already noted what Microsoft should consider doing instead for its IE development cycle.
